What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) position at The City University of New York?
POSITION DETAILS
Bronx Community College seeks a Manager of Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) in the department of Workforce Development and Continuing Education within the Office of Academic Affairs to serve as BCC’s CPL Lead in collaboration with Academic Affairs leadership. This new role will be charged with developing and implementing opportunities for incoming students to earn credit toward degrees based on prior work, life, and learning experiences, and supporting efforts to scale CPL practices across the College.
Taking guidance from BCC’s new Academic Master Plan and a CPL working group—which the Manager will help coordinate and support—the Manager’s portfolio will include advising students seeking CPL and providing professional development to campus advisors on how to screen for and advise on CPL opportunities. The Manager will assess current offerings for earning CPL at BCC and partner with faculty and academic leadership to recommend new stackable credentials and CPL opportunities. Additional responsibilities include: researching and recommending national best practices; designing and implementing process improvement plans in collaboration with relevant stakeholders; and identifying and coordinating the execution of new CPL and stackable credential opportunities with faculty, particularly for adult learners in high demand fields such as healthcare, business, education, and technology.
The Manager will also track and analyze data related to CPL participation and outcomes, represent BCC as the College’s CPL Lead on CUNY-wide and external facing committees, and serve as a subject matter expert on CPL for related initiatives. CPL is named as a priority in the College’s Academic Master Plan and across CUNY, following the University Board of Trustees’ adoption of a CUNY-wide CPL policy in June 2020, and it is an integral component of the Governor’s New York State Opportunity Promise initiative.
Reporting to the Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education and working closely with the Associate Dean for Curriculum Matters and Academic Programs, this position offers a unique opportunity for a creative, collaborative problem solver who is passionate about student facing work and cross functional collaboration to advance innovative practices in postsecondary education.
