FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Biological Sciences and Geology invites applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor in General Biology and/or Microbiology. The candidate will perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.
The successful candidate will teach courses in Microbiology and General Biology (with expertise in organismal biology, evolution, and biodiversity). Duties include teaching, mentoring and advising undergraduates, maintaining scholarly activities, including training undergraduate research students, and participating in Department as well as College activities. Service is expected in various committees such as Assessment, Course and Standing, and Curriculum development. The candidate on this Assistant Professor line will be expected to excel in teaching and using evidence-based pedagogy in the classroom, demonstrate the ability to engage in scholarly research activities that result in publishable work, and provide service to the Department and College.
The Department of Biological Sciences and Geology offers programs of study in Health Sciences, Biology, Public Health, Environmental Sciences, Medical Assistant, Biotechnology, Pre-Professional Studies, Pre-Nursing Curriculum, Geology, as well as required biology courses in Massage Therapy. The department's facilities include 15 state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with multimedia projection systems, two dedicated research laboratories, and a core facility with modern instrumentation. The Department provides opportunities for professional growth, pedagogical development, and research.

Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology or related field.
Candidates must have the required degree conferred by the time they submit their application.

Salary Range $89,777-$98,231.

- Experience in teaching entry-level General Biology (with expertise in organismal biology, evolution and biodiversity), and/or Microbiology to science majors.

- Experience mentoring/advising students.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
