FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Biological Sciences and Geology invites applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor in Applied Physiology starting in Spring 2027. The candidate will perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

The successful candidate will teach courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology, and Neurophysiology for majors. Duties include teaching, mentoring, advising undergraduates, maintaining scholarly activities including training undergraduate research students, and participating in department and college activities. Service includes serving on various committees like Assessment, Course and Standing, and Curriculum development. The candidate on this Assistant Professor line is expected to excel in teaching through the use of evidence-based pedagogy, demonstrate the ability to engage in scholarly research activities that result in publishable work, and provide service to the Department and College.

The Department of Biological Sciences and Geology offers programs of study in Health Sciences, Biology, Public Health, Environmental Sciences, Medical Assistant, Biotechnology, Pre-Professional Studies, Pre-Nursing Curriculum, Geology, as well as required biology courses in Massage Therapy. The department's facilities include 15 state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with multimedia projection systems, two dedicated research laboratories, and a core facility with modern instrumentation. The department provides opportunities for professional growth, pedagogical development, and research.

Qualifications

Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in area(s) of Applied Physiology or a related field or a relevant professional doctorate, such as Doctor of Chiropractic.

Candidates must have the required degree conferred by the time they submit their application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years of prior teaching experience with effective evidence-based pedagogical practices.
  • Experience in teaching entry level Anatomy and Physiology or Kinesiology, with ability to also teach Neurophysiology to science majors at an undergraduate institution.
  • Demonstrate ability or potential to develop and sustain a program of scholarly research and to publish.
  • Experience mentoring/advising students.
  • Experience in teaching diverse student populations.

Compensation

Salary Range $89,777-$98,231.

Commensurate With Experience And Qualifications.
