JOB DUTIES
· Oversee day-to-day activities of residents in the facility
· Initiate and promote activities within facility and stimulate patient interests and well-being
· Regulate programs in accordance with patient capabilities, needs, and interests.
· Transport residents to and from activity room as required
· Work with interdisciplinary team departments and staff members to promote the best possible care for the residents
· Provide supervision and leadership for other activity department staff meetings, contact relatives for patients requests and work with relatives concerning patients concerns and needs
· May conduct in-service training of other staff members, review their assessments and program goals, and consult with them on selected cases
· Prepare progress reports for medical staff reflecting patient reactions and evidence of progress or regression
· Maintain all activity related records required by regulations and Medical Records Department activity assessment, progress notes, and discharge summary
· Assess patients’ needs using observation, medical records, tests, and discussions with other healthcare professionals, patients’ families, and patients
· Develop treatment plans and programs that meet patients’ needs and interests
· Teach patients about ways to cope with stress, anxiety, or depression
· Assist in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
· Certification in Therapeutic Recreation or Certified Activities Director
· 4 or more years’ experience in a skilled nursing setting
· Must also have experience working with Dementia patients
