What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist position at the Chickasaw Nation?
We are currently looking for a Full Time Occupational Therapist to join our Physical Therapy team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.
Summary:
Provides occupational therapy services to patients referred to occupational therapy and to provide supervision and instruction to department/facility staff as required.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures as well as aides in the safety of all patients, clients, and etc.
- Respects and understands patient's right to treatment and right to involve in treatment decisions
- Confers with person(s) most closely associated with the active management of the patient care and keep them informed of any additional patient needs, treatments, modifications and/or progress
- Implements proper techniques to assist and handle patients, and the ability to handle tools and machines of the profession
- Coordinates with Supervisor in their area of the department/facility to include patient scheduling and implementing occupational therapy services
- Performs housekeeping duties by routine and periodic cleaning to maintain cleanliness and infection control
- Evaluates assigned patients referred to occupational therapy or other offered services by the department
- Interprets and carries out the prescription of the physician
- Completes and submits of all reports pertaining to evaluation and treatment within a timely manner
- Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of data and information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Practices occupational therapy consistent with the American Occupational Therapy Association Code of Ethics in addition to Chickasaw Nation Health System policies and procedures
- Must practice ethical responsibility based on the cultural and religious beliefs of clients served under applicable law
- Participates in continuing education opportunities provided to keep informed of new techniques and trends in the field of occupational therapy
- Conducts inventory of all related equipment and supplies as assigned
- Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department/facility
- Participates in Performance Improvement of procedures and organization of the department/facility
- Provides presentations to community groups as requested and maintain good public relations
- Assists in recruitment of applicants for positions and orientates new personnel to area/department/facility
- Evaluates and reports, at regular intervals, the work of other employees or volunteers within their area of the department/facility
- Assists the Supervisor and/or Manager in planning of any new programs to be developed within the department/facility
- Assists the Supervisor and/or Manager with the revision of any procedures within the department/facility personnel as necessary
