We are currently looking for a Full Time Laboratory Assistant Manager to join our Laboratory Group team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.

Summary:

Assists the CNDH Laboratory Manager with the daily supervision, coordination and management of all laboratory services throughout the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the management of the CNDH Clinical Laboratory operations to assure accurate and timely laboratory results. Maintain 24/7 Laboratory Service at CNMC and open hours at the Satellite Clinic Laboratories
  • Works to assure that Laboratory Services meet all applicable regulatory requirements. This may include but is not limited to the College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Commission of Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA), and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
  • Supervises the laboratory staff to assure proper functioning of the department. This includes but is not limited to scheduling of staff, managing KRONOS applications, assuring that the CNDH Laboratories are properly staffed by competent individuals, evaluating staff performance and training needs, and making corrective actions as needed
  • Identifies and respond to priority needs of patients, providers, and staff
  • Manages the Laboratory quality control programs, identification, evaluation, and improvement of processes which are essential to positive patient outcomes, assists with the Laboratory’s participation in multidisciplinary committees, task forces, etc. as applicable, and evaluate and report Laboratory Performance Improvement on a regular basis to designated committees of CNDH
  • Assess and implement new test systems and instrumentation in consultation with the Laboratory Director, Senior Medical Technologists, and Clinic Medical Technologist Supervisors
  • Works to develop and maintain policies and procedures for the CNDH Laboratories
  • Assures that the CNDH Laboratories meet all safety and infection control standards
  • Serves as the Safety Officer for the Laboratory
  • Assists with the management and monitoring of all business, contractual, and supply systems for CNDH Laboratories. This includes evaluating, recommending, and monitoring reference laboratories contracted for referred testing
  • Serves on CNDH committees as applicable and as directed by the Lab Manager
  • Performs duties as a technical consultant for satellite clinic laboratories
  • Evaluates vendors and select proper/appropriate instrumentation for all clinical laboratory sites
  • Works with facilities management for internal space and lab design to maintain adequate functional space to meet the needs of CNDH
  • Performs all internal lab human resource functions for the clinical laboratory including selecting and interviewing candidates, managing employee action software functions, and onboarding new employees
  • Manages and oversee the utilization of Kronos timekeeping system and work scheduling for all laboratory staff
  • Works with Ancillary Committee staff to manage the clinical laboratory test formulary and continuously monitor the lab utilization of lab tests
  • Make recommendations for adjusting the lab formulary as needed
  • Manages and oversee the laboratory function as a clinical training site for technologist/technician and phlebotomy student
  • Performs Laboratory testing if needed
  • Conducts quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products
  • Responds to external proficiency testing programs
  • Evaluates results of quality control procedures and implements corrective actions when indicated
  • Develops and maintains documentation as appropriate - files, logs, records, reports, etc.
  • Ensures employees and resources complete assigned training and development
  • Maintains knowledge of, follows, and enforces all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area
  • Plans staff to meet operational needs
  • Develops, communicates, monitors location- or function-specific procedures and guidelines
  • Monitors and improves work performance of assigned teams as a whole and as individuals
  • Meets goals by establishing productivity, quality and service standards, and identifies improvement opportunities
  • Ensures all outcomes and deliverables meet organizational goals, objectives, and quality standards

  • Knowledge in the use of office automation equipment, basic computer skills and typing is necessary

Experience:

  • 1 year directly related management experience
  • 5 years directly related experience


Education:
Essential:
  • High School, GED or Equivalent
  • Bachelors Degree in directly related field

  • Pass general background check
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • CLIA Technical Supervisor
  • CN Core Leadership Level 2

  • This position requires completion of level two Core Leadership Training within 18 months of the hire or promotion date.
