Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team in a fast-paced construction and civil litigation law practice. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and legal team in handling complex litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling appointments, meetings, and court appearances.
- Filing court documents through the various state and federal portals.
- Draft and proofread legal documents, including letters, pleadings, discovery requests, and other filings.
- Assist in case preparation by organizing case files, managing evidence, and preparing exhibits for hearings or trials.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records and managing deadlines related to court filings, hearings, and other key events.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring proper documentation and case tracking.
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other relevant agencies, adhering to all deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Manage client communications and provide updates on case progress as directed by the attorney.
- Perform other tasks as needed to support the legal team and the overall workflow of the practice.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistant Program, or related field is preferred.
- Strong interest in construction law, legal procedures, and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
- Previous legal assistant or administrative experience is a plus, but not required.
