Position Summary:
This position independently performs all Payroll related duties. Monitors Accounting Transactions at Fund/Org Level to assure accuracy of information as it relates to ALL UNC taxes and retirements. Reconciles all Classified liabilities and State Taxes.
Job Duties:
Pay, balance and reconcile all Employee Taxes, quarter filings, Retirements and Classified benefits. Maintains HR Payroll security; enter W4s and Direct Deposits; and verifications of employment.
Federal and State Taxes, 941 Filings and Quarterly Balancing, Monthly W2 Balancing 35%
Submit, file and balance ALL
tax related deductions; Federal State Medicare Family and review and verify all
deductions that are tied to taxes.
Balance PERA/Retirement Accounts Monthly 30%
Must submit all PERA
documents; final 6-months salary, terminations, AED/SAED, other PERA uploads as
needed to reconcile with error explanations as well as all ORP accounts.
State Classified Vendor Pays/Collect Benefits Payments 15%
Bring each vendor liability
into balance monthly with detailed information on outages. Analyze and resolve
payroll posting discrepancies to include creating journal entries and Payroll
Accounting Adjustments to correct discrepancies. Monitors less than 12-month
employees. Collects benefits payments for employees on leave.
Maintain all Payroll/HR Security for University 10%
Maintains all past and
current forms, auditor set up, individual security assuring accurate security
in accordance with UNC internal and external auditors.
Enter W4s/Direct Deposit Agreements in Banner; Verification of Employment Requests 10%
Ensure accurate data entry, integrity of VOEs and information released.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Accounting, Business or other related field; plus, four (4) years of payroll processing experience or other related experience. Hiring committee may substitute work experience for degree.
Minimum: Three years of payroll office experience including experience in the preparation and submission of federal and state taxes. Experience with Banner financial systems is preferred, higher education experience is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relations skills.
Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and data systems.
Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Detail oriented.
Self-starter.
Highly reliable and trustworthy.
