BMS / HVAC Controls Technician
Nationwide Projects | Advanced Building Technology | Consistent, Year-Round Work
This role is built for technicians who enjoy solving complex problems, working with modern building automation, and taking ownership of their work while traveling nationwide.
We specialize in Building Management Systems (BMS) that control HVAC and lighting for large retail facilities across the U.S. Our technicians are trusted experts who upgrade automation systems, commission controls, and restore critical building operations in high-visibility environments.
This is not a routine service role. You will work independently, manage your projects, and represent a respected company on major commercial job sites.
Travel Schedule
- Approximately 15–17 consecutive days on the road
- Followed by 5 scheduled days at home
- Nationwide travel with a predictable rotation
This schedule is ideal for technicians who prefer focused work periods followed by real time off.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, replace, and service BMS and automation equipment
- Troubleshoot HVAC and lighting control systems
- Perform software updates, programming changes, and system commissioning
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues efficiently
- Lead or support field teams during installations and service work
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and internal teams
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and system updates
- Ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule
- Travel to customer sites nationwide as required
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in HVAC, controls, automation, or electrical work
- Working knowledge of Building Management Systems controlling HVAC and lighting
- Experience in large retail or commercial environments preferred
- Hands-on experience replacing controllers, sensors, and related components
- Experience with software updates, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and control schematics
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently while traveling extensively
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
