JOB SUMMARY:
The Machinist supports the 532nd’s landing-gear technical repair, wheels, brakes, and overhaul mission for aircraft including, but not limited to, the C-5, C-17, C-130, B-1B, B-2, B-52, KC-135, A-10, T-38, E-2, E-3, F-4, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35, MH-53, and MH-60. The Machinist interprets written instructions, technical data, engineering drawings, and specifications to plan and lay out machining operations required for the fabrication, restoration, and modification of landing-gear components.
Qualifications:BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- No less than five (5) years’ of general experience in maintaining aircraft.
- Solid, demonstrated ability to work well with others, especially within small, close workforce, good interpersonal communication skills are highly desired.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, be able to acquire and maintain any and all necessary security clearances and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Uses machinist hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and standard machine tools—including lathes, mills, grinders, Computer Numerical Control (CNC), and related equipment—to produce metal parts to the close tolerances required for aircraft landing-gear systems
- Performs machining computations involving dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, and tooling requirements
- Applies knowledge of the working properties of common metals
- Selects appropriate materials, parts, and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks
- Fit, assemble, and verify the proper function of machined components within landing-gear assemblies and ensure all work complies with applicable technical orders, safety requirements, and quality standards
