JOB SUMMARY
The Academic Grants Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Benedict College’s expanding research and institutional grant portfolio by managing both pre-award and post-award activities. This position works closely with faculty, staff, and administrators across the full grant lifecycle—from identifying opportunities and developing proposals to managing awarded funds, ensuring compliance, and facilitating successful closeout. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (flexibility required during deadlines). A Hybrid or remote work schedule may be considered with supervisor approval.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Identify and share funding opportunities.
- Assist with proposal narratives, budgets, and compliance review.
- Submit applications through federal and sponsor systems (Grants.gov, NSF Research.gov, NIH eRA Commons).
- Set up and monitor awards, ensuring expenditures align with budgets and regulations.
- Prepare financial and programmatic reports for sponsors.
- Manage budget revisions, no-cost extensions, and closeouts.
- Oversee sub-awards and review invoices.
- Support audit readiness and maintain compliance with 2 CFR 200.
- Provide training and guidance to faculty on grant processes.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public administration or closely related field; Master’s degree or CRA certification preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in grants administration (pre- and/or post-award), preferably in higher education or research.
- Strong understanding of federal grant regulations, particularly 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance.
- Familiarity with major federal agencies (NSF, NIH, DOE, DOL, DoD) and their electronic systems.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, cost accounting standards, and financial reporting.
- Strong skills in budget preparation, financial monitoring, and compliance.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and grant management systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.

Work environment risks exposure to no known environmental hazards.
