Superintendent

Position Overview

The Axel Group is partnered with a well-established construction firm is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to oversee field operations on roadway and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for leading on-site construction activities and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with all applicable standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience working on FDOT roadway projects, including roadway expansions, utility installation, and major highway improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all daily construction activities on assigned projects.
• Oversee heavy highway construction operations including earthwork, roadway construction, concrete work, structures, and underground utilities.
• Ensure project milestones and schedules are maintained while meeting budget and quality expectations.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, ensuring productivity and adherence to project requirements.
• Monitor ongoing work to confirm compliance with FDOT standards, project specifications, and quality control procedures.
• Maintain and update project schedules and communicate progress to project leadership.
• Implement and enforce all jobsite safety policies and procedures.
• Assign and coordinate subcontractor tasks to maintain efficient workflow and meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of FDOT specifications, roadway construction practices, and infrastructure project requirements.
• Proven ability to supervise field operations, coordinate subcontractors, and maintain project schedules.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience using construction management software and standard office tools, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Procore.
