Overview
The Program Manager acts as the primary customer interface for assigned customer programs and works closely with all departments and senior management to ensure program, technical, schedule and cost objectives are met.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with new business opportunities to expand the scope of currently assigned contracts as well as to assist in the development of new and follow-up business with current customers. This individual must be able to lead a project team and achieve task completion within a matrix management environment.
Responsibilities
Program Execution
- Plan and execute the program successfully by managing priorities to achieve schedule, quality, and cost.
- Continuously drive for results and challenge the status quo to meet customer needs.
- Have proven ability to influence others positively.
- Work successfully with cross-functional team to deliver high quality product, on time, and to budget.
Program Team Management
- Coordinate the performance of program functions (such as supply chain, contracts, finance, and operations).
- Ability to provide verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively.
- Position program and team for long term success on subsequent contracts.
- Identify and assess risk with appropriate mitigating actions.
Schedule Management
- Establish plans and schedules in alignment with contract objectives.
- Ensure that the programs/projects are on schedule to the program milestones.
Financial Performance
- Responsible for P&L performance of the program.
- Present status and overall performance to internal customers and external customers.
- Forecast financial performance and staffing needs in conjunction with operations.
Technical Performance
- Guide and provide feedback on processes, materials, tooling, facilities and suppliers based on lessons learned.
- Drive technical excellence by setting program standards, working closely with technical team, balancing risk, and delivering performance.
- Clearly communicate difficult technical challenges/issues to customers and management.
Business Development
- Support advocacy initiatives to promote additional pursuits.
- Aid in proposal preparation for subsequent program contracts

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and MRP systems.
Preferred Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable Engineering or Business field
5 Years of Program Management Experience or applicable experience in supply chain, engineering, or operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
- Excellent leadership and communications skills throughout all organizational aspects.
- Previous Aerospace Experience
- Resilient and able to drive projects effectively against demanding targets in a complex, multi-disciplined environment
- Comfortable operating in the midst of sophisticated technical activity, while retaining sharp focus on business outcomes
- Excellent decision maker, problem solver, and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS-Excel, MS-Powerpoint, and ERP Systems
- Responsible for overall compliance, cost and schedules of assigned projects
- Develops and maintains relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners
- Productive and positive interface with other departments
