Category Manager

Location: Denver, CO (Henderson) or Roseville, MN

Work Format: Hybrid – Remote Monday/Friday, Onsite Tuesday–Thursday

Contract Length: 6 months, likely to extend

Rate: $$59/Hr W2

Position Summary

This role supports IT software engagements by leading sourcing and contracting activities. The Category Manager will develop and execute sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, run RFPs, negotiate and execute contracts, and troubleshoot issues with existing engagements. The role requires both individual contributions and teamwork within a collaborative category management group.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing events for IT software, including RFP design, supplier selection, and negotiation.
• Own and manage supplier profiles, ensuring contract compliance and performance.
• Negotiate and execute contracts for new requests, renewals, and amendments.
• Troubleshoot issues with contractors and resolve contract-related challenges.
• Develop and execute category strategies that optimize cost, mitigate risk, and improve operations.
• Monitor supplier performance, manage disputes, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and collaborate with peers and associate category managers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3 years sourcing and contracting experience.
• Proven background in IT/software category sourcing.
• Strong contracting and negotiation skills, including running RFPs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication, supplier management, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Coupa or SAP procurement systems.
• CPSM certification (preferred but not required).

Work Environment

• Supports a team of 5 Category Managers, led by a Senior Category Manager.
• Partners with both internal business stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Steep learning curve: 2–3 weeks of training, ~60 days to operate independently.
• Standard full-time, Monday–Friday schedule with flexible hours.
