About the Role:
We’re seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this hands-on role, you’ll ensure the upkeep and safety of our agency-owned and leased properties—including residences, day programs, schools, and camp facilities. You’ll play a vital part in creating welcoming, functional environments for the individuals we support.
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to maintenance and repair work orders either assigned or from personal observation during routine site visits and preventive maintenance inspections
- Complete building maintenance and repair jobs to include jobs related to, but not limited to, painting, plumbing, electrical, light masonry, carpentry, tile and floor repair, minor HVAC troubleshooting and repair etc.
- Responsible for appliance installation, furniture assembly and repair
- Assist in consumer relocations - moving of furniture and personal items
- Participate in building and grounds preventative seasonal maintenance program, periodic site evaluations and annual reviews.
- Procure supplies and materials from local retail and wholesale suppliers and vendors
- Maintain inventory and records as assigned
- Participate in overtime and on-call work rotation as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience
- Valid NJ Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Basic computer skills (e.g., email, work order systems)
- Strong problem-solving and time management abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical demands:
This role requires regular physical activity, including:
- Standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders
- Bending, stooping, kneeling
- Operating hand and power tools
- Driving company vehicles
- Lifting and moving heavy items (e.g., appliances, furniture) with assistance devices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $41,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
