Direct Support Professional – Overnight Sleep Shift
Support, Empower, and Make a Difference Every Night
Join The Arc Columbia-Saratoga, formerly Coarc (Columbia County Arc), as a Direct Support Professional and help empower people we support with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, fulfilling lives. In this overnight sleep shift position, you’ll provide a safe, supportive presence throughout the night and assist people we support with their morning routines, including preparing breakfast and helping them get ready for the day.
Position Details
Locations: Hudson, Valatie and Chatham, NY
Pay Rate: The base pay for this position ranges from $17.00–$17.25 per hour, depending on the assigned worksite. Select worksites also offer an additional $2.00 per hour overnight stipend, which is added to the base hourly rate.
All overnight sleep shifts include paid sleep hours in a residential support setting. These benefit-eligible positions accrue paid time off (PTO) on a bi-weekly basis and include access to our comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities
- Support people we support in making choices and decisions that promote independence and self-advocacy.
- Provide overnight supervision while maintaining a safe, comfortable, and supportive home environment.
- Assist people we support with personal care, morning routines, breakfast preparation, and household tasks, as needed.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or the needs of people we support during overnight hours.
- Foster a respectful, person-centered environment that promotes dignity and well-being.
- Complete required documentation and communicate important information to incoming staff.
- Follow all agency policies, required training, safety procedures, and documentation requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (TASC) preferred
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Valid NYS driver’s license
- Ability to complete all required agency training
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- One year of experience supporting people with disabilities preferred
