About the Role
We are seeking a patient and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one Community Habilitation support for a friendly 16-year-old young man with autism and ADHD.
This position is well suited for someone who enjoys working with teenagers and can provide calm structure, encouragement, and positive guidance. The DSP will help the individual strengthen his independence, confidence, safety awareness, daily living skills, and social connections both at home and in the community.

Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Mileage Reimbursement: Mileage is covered for approved community outings

Key Responsibilities
The DSP will provide assistance and guidance in the following areas:
Community Engagement: Support participation in outings, errands, recreational activities, and other community experiences while helping the individual avoid large crowds whenever possible.
Skill Building: Teach and reinforce important safety skills, including learning his address and phone number, following directions, and navigating community settings safely.
Social Development: Encourage communication skills, appropriate social interactions, and opportunities to develop friendships and meaningful connections.
Daily Living Support: Provide reminders, encouragement, and guidance with routines, personal hygiene, healthy habits, and age-appropriate independence.
Mentorship: Promote confidence, participation, and engagement in personal interests, including music, art, and community activities.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must have a valid New York State driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to work independently while following an established and structured support plan.
The successful candidate will be dependable, patient, compassionate, and comfortable supporting a teenager with autism and ADHD.
