Our client is a well-established advisory firm in Dallas with a strong reputation for client-focused work and a collaborative culture. They're looking for a Tax Manager who brings more than technical expertise, someone who can sit across from a client, understand what they're trying to accomplish, and deliver meaningful planning and advisory value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other entities
- Lead tax planning engagements, identify tax-saving opportunities, and provide proactive guidance to clients throughout the year
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients — fielding questions, walking through strategy, and making sure clients feel informed and well taken care of
- Supervise, delegate to, and mentor tax staff while supporting their professional development
- Respond to tax authority notices and assist with tax research and technical memos
- Collaborate with the accounting and advisory teams on cross-functional client needs
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to client relationship management
Required Qualifications:
- Active CPA license required
- Minimum 5 years of progressive public accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities
- Strong background at a regional CPA firm or higher preferred
- Broad technical proficiency across individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other entity types
- Advanced tax planning capabilities with the ability to identify strategies and optimize client outcomes
- Clear, professional communication skills — this role is client-facing and advisory-heavy
- Proficiency with tax preparation and research software; strong Excel and general technology skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's in Taxation is a plus
- Experience working with entrepreneurs and growing businesses highly desirable
