Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Tax Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead complex tax engagements for high-net-worth individuals, families, and business clients, serving as a trusted advisor who bridges tax strategy with broader financial planning goals. You will mentor staff, manage client relationships, and play an integral role in delivering the integrated, personalized service.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, C-corporations, trusts, and estates.
• Serve as the primary tax advisor for a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and business clients, delivering proactive, strategic guidance throughout the year.
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies that align with clients’ long-term financial and wealth management objectives.
• Collaborate closely with the wealth management team to ensure tax-efficient investment and estate planning recommendations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
• Manage client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to firm quality standards.
• Identify and communicate tax risks, opportunities, and regulatory changes to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear, proactive communication and exceptional advisory service.
• Participate in business development activities including proposals, client presentations, and networking.
• Stay current on evolving tax law and regulations, and translate complex changes into actionable client advice.
Required Qualifications
• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license — required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive public accounting experience, with a focus on tax compliance and advisory services.
• Strong client advisory skills with a proven ability to build trusted, long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals and business owners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax matters in clear, practical terms.
• Demonstrated experience managing and reviewing complex individual, partnership, corporate, trust, and estate returns.
• Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor professional staff.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with professional tax preparation software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, UltraTax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience advising clients on estate planning, business succession, and closely held business tax strategies.
• Background working in an integrated wealth management and CPA firm environment.
• Familiarity with investment tax considerations, including capital gains planning and tax-loss harvesting strategies.
• Master’s degree in Taxation or related field.
