SBA Business Development Officer

The SBA Business Development Officer is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing SBA loan opportunities, with a focus on SBA 7(a) and USDA programs. This individual will be expected to bring an existing pipeline, demonstrate strong credit acumen, and manage transactions from initial prospecting through closing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages a pipeline of SBA lending opportunities with a focus on SBA 7(a) and USDA programs.
- Originates loans for a variety of purposes, including business acquisitions, partner buyouts, commercial real estate, expansions, startups, and veteran-owned businesses.
- Structures and negotiates SBA credit facilities in alignment with bank and SBA guidelines.
- Demonstrates strong credit knowledge and actively participates in the underwriting process from initial screening through closing.
- Works closely with internal credit and operations teams to ensure efficient and compliant loan execution.
- Maintains high levels of client service and communication throughout the lending process.
- Contributes to the continued strength and culture of the SBA team.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of direct SBA lending experience, specifically within the SBA industry (non–branch-based / outside sales environment).
- Proven track record of successful SBA loan origination and business development.
- Strong credit skills with the ability to guide transactions from origination through closing.
- Demonstrated stability in employment history (no more than two job changes within the past five years).
- Existing, active pipeline with the ability to transition business upon joining.
- Experience with SBA 7(a) and USDA loan programs.
- Strong alignment with a team-oriented, performance-driven culture.
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and organizational skills.
