Shift Details
We are currently hiring for day, night, and weekend shifts.
Shift Differentials:
- Weeknights (Monday–Thursday): 10%
- Weekend Days (Saturday–Sunday): $1.00/hour
- Weekend Nights (Friday–Sunday): $2.00/hour
About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join a Sobering and Deflection Center in Portland, Oregon, with a start date as early as June 15, 2026.
In this role, BHTs work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and are essential members of a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals experiencing intoxication, substance use crises, behavioral health challenges, homelessness, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
This is a front-line stabilization role focused on de-escalation, safety monitoring, and supportive engagement in a structured, non-hospital setting designed to reduce unnecessary jail and emergency room utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient support and monitoring under RN supervision
- Maintain safety of clients in a sobering and stabilization environment
- Observe, document, and report behavioral and medical changes
- Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques as needed
- Support clients through sobering/detoxification processes within scope
- Collaborate with clinical and operational staff to ensure continuity of care
- Respond appropriately to behavioral or medical emergencies
- Maintain a calm, structured, and safe therapeutic environment
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
- Associate degree or higher in healthcare, behavioral health, or related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience post-secondary education in healthcare or behavioral health settings
Preferred Background/Skills:
- Experience in substance use treatment, crisis intervention, or behavioral health
- Strong de-escalation skills and comfort working in high-acuity environments
- CPI certification or experience with restraints preferred
- Familiarity with Title 36 or similar behavioral health statutes
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
