Description

The Electrical Technology (ELEC) Dual Credit Instructor is responsible for delivering college-level Electrical Technology coursework and laboratory instruction to high school seniors participating in Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology's grant-funded dual credit program at the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center. If seats are available, adult students will also be enrolled.

The instructor will provide hands-on, industry-aligned instruction that enables students to complete the first year of an Associate of Applied Science degree while still enrolled in high school. Instruction will emphasize electrical theory, wiring methods, safety, troubleshooting, and practical application while preparing students for postsecondary education and employment in high-demand technical careers.

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Deliver assigned Electrical Technology courses and laboratory instruction in accordance with approved TSCT curriculum and academic standards.

· Prepare and implement lesson plans, laboratory activities, assessments, and instructional materials.

· Provide hands-on instruction in electrical systems, wiring practices, electrical theory, controls, blueprint reading, motors, and related technical competencies.

· Maintain a safe laboratory environment and ensure compliance with all safety requirements.

· Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate attendance, grading, and academic records.

· Submit grades and required documentation in accordance with College deadlines.

· Utilize instructional methods that support diverse learning styles and student success.

· Communicate regularly with program administration regarding student progress, attendance concerns, and academic performance.

· Support student retention and engagement through mentoring and academic guidance.

· Participate in curriculum review and instructional improvement activities as requested.

· Maintain industry-relevant knowledge and instructional practices.

· Collaborate with TSCT faculty, LCTC personnel, and participating school districts to support program goals.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

· Participate in instructor meetings, orientation activities, and professional development as assigned.

· Assist with student recruitment, open houses, and program information sessions.

· Support grant reporting and assessment activities as requested.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· No direct supervisory responsibilities.

· Provides instructional oversight of students during classroom and laboratory activities.

Typical Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, electrical controls, motors, and related technologies.

· Ability to effectively teach technical concepts to secondary and postsecondary students.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to maintain a safe instructional environment.

· Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.

· Ability to utilize instructional technology and learning management systems.

· Commitment to student success and workforce development.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

Required:

· Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Systems, Electrical Construction, Industrial Electrical Technology, or a closely related field; or an approved equivalent combination of education and industry certifications.

· Minimum five (5) years of industry experience in electrical systems, industrial electrical maintenance, electrical construction, controls, or a related field.

Preferred:

· Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.

· Ten (10) or more years of relevant industry experience.

· Prior teaching, training, apprenticeship instruction, or workforce development experience.

· Experience working with high school students or dual enrollment programs.

Supplemental Information

Work Environment and Physical Demands

· Work is performed in classroom, laboratory, and shop environments.

· Frequent standing, walking, demonstration of equipment, and laboratory supervision.

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

· Exposure to electrical training equipment, hand tools, and industrial training systems.

· Requires adherence to all safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment when appropriate.

Grant Program Context

This position supports a Pennsylvania Department of Education-funded initiative designed to expand access to workforce-aligned technical education for Lebanon County high school seniors. The instructor will deliver evening dual credit coursework that enables students to complete the first year of their TSCT Associate of Applied Science degree while still enrolled in high school, reducing barriers to college access and supporting regional workforce development needs. If seats are remaining, adult students will also be enrolled.
