What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasound Technologist position at Texas Tech Univ Health Sciences Ctr?
This position produces two dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by Physician in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs. Work is performed under usual clinic and office conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Requires a high degree of contact with patients and physicians.
- Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to the specifications of the examination.
- Explains the process to the patient and instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
- Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of the test.
- Keys test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain a record of test results.
- Moves the transducer, by hand, over the specified area of the body and observes the sound wave display screen to monitor the quality of the ultrasonic pattern produced.
- Starts equipment which produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape computer disk, strip printout, or film.
- Photographs images of organs shown on display module or removes printout from equipment, to obtain a permanent record of internal examination.
- Discusses test results with supervisor or attending Physician.
- Maintains daily patient and text logs.
- Assists physician(s) with ultrasound guided procedures.
- Takes call on a rotational basis according to the schedule.
Salary : $35 - $40
