About the Zhu Lab
The Zhu Lab is an exciting new research group at Texas State University, and we’re building something special from the ground up. Our group is dedicated to developing functional nanomaterials and nanostructures that drive innovation in renewable and sustainable energy, optoelectronics, and photocatalysis. Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar with strong expertise in colloidal chemistry and nanoparticle (NP) synthesis. You will play a central role in our interdisciplinary research program, developing colloidal inorganic nanoparticles with precisely controlled size, shape, surface chemistry, and optoelectronic properties. Your work will enable the rational design of hybrid inorganic–organic materials with tailored functionalities for next‑generation technologies.

Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in colloidal NP synthesis, purification, and characterization (e.g., quantum dots, metal oxides)
- Strong foundation in optical materials and optical spectroscopy
- Solid publication record in peer‑reviewed journals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail in laboratory documentation and reporting
- Experience with grant writing
- High scientific curiosity, self‑motivation, and a strong commitment to collaborative, team‑based research
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required but a Plus)
- Background in organic chemistry and organic synthesis
- Experience in organic synthesis, purification and characterization
