What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Technician position at TEXAS INSTITUTE FOR SURGERY?
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing specialized cleaning, sanitation, and infection control duties to maintain a safe, hygienic, and orderly environment for patients, staff, and visitors throughout the hospital. This role is essential for supporting patient safety and overall hospital operations.
Shift time: 7am - 3pm or 7:30am - 3:30pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Wet mops and disinfects floors in patient care and operating room areas.
2. Cleans and disinfects walls, furniture, floors, and operating room equipment.
3. Cleans all horizontal and vertical surfaces as needed.
4. Moves contaminated mattresses and cleans underneath; moves operating room tables and cleans underneath.
5. Collects and disposes of trash, dirty linens, and medical waste in accordance with hospital protocols.
6. Maintains housekeeping equipment and utility closets in an orderly and clean manner.
7. Restocks supplies needed for the operating room.
8. Cleans and services operating room hallways.
9. Adheres to hospital infection control policies and procedures.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education & Training:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Experience:
- Minimum one year of housekeeping experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Familiarity with operating room cleaning protocols and equipment.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- N/A
