About The Division:

Join the Budget & Internal Accounting division as an Accountant! Work involves the preparation of agency travel vouchers, reimbursements, and expense reports. Specializing in auditing, investigating, and analyzing employee travel reimbursements.

Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 years of full-time experience in accounting.
  • 3 years of experience processing accounts payable or travel reimbursements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or Public Administration.
  • Experience with processing vouchers from multiple areas for a state of Texas agency on the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System.
  • Experience with processing travel reimbursements in CAPPS Travel & Expense.
  • Experience with monitoring vouchers from multiple areas for a state of Texas agency on the Uniform Statewide Accounting System.

Substitutions

  • One additional year of experience performing accounting work may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).

In this role you will:

Agency Travel Reimbursements:

  • Audits, investigates, and analyzes all travel reimbursements to ensure compliance with statewide payment guidelines and agency policies.
  • Reconciles invoices and prepares payment for rental car direct bill and centrally billed accounts.
  • Serves as the travel advance fund custodian.
  • Maintains files electronically in an orderly manner in compliance with the state’s records retention guidelines.
  • Process and approves expenditure transfer vouchers.
  • Prepare and process warrant cancellations in the Treasury Operations System Services and enter the reversal transaction in the Centralized Accounting and Payroll / Personnel System.
  • Enters voucher accounting information into the agency’s internal accounting system.
  • As applicable, monitors documents in the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) to ensure timely processing.
  • Review and approve employee travel card requests.
  • Prepares and conducts travel training to agency staff, in person or virtually.
  • Develop complex reports for monitoring agency financial data.
  • Participate in the travel quarterly meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
