This position is a member of our Office of Waste (OOW).
Here's What You'll Be Doing
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.
OR
Experience in the management of a business function, division, or department to include professional management experience where primary duties consist of planning organizing, controlling, and directing the work of an organization or formal subdivision, or team.
OR
Experience as a TCEQ division director.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

This position is a member of our Office of Waste (OOW).
Here's What You'll Be Doing
- Direct and lead agency activities of the OOW, including emergency response.
- Direct human resource management functions, assuring the employment of staff with appropriate organizational and management skills to carry out the mission of the Office of Waste.
- Manage legislative implementation, in close coordination with Intergovernmental relations (IGR), related to the OOW and which address statewide and agency goals, objectives, and mission, in coordination with other program areas, outside entities, and other interested parties.
- Direct fiscal management including budgeting and funds management. Serves as office contact to the Agency Records Management program concerning records retention, storage, access, and destruction.
- Advise and make recommendations to the Executive Director on a wide range of waste issues.
- Serve as agency authority to the public and industry on waste issues.
- Coordinate and negotiate with state/local/federal agencies on waste related issues.
