Position Details:
- Extensive travel required.
- Evenings and weekend work required.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to coordinate and attend meetings and conferences at times beyond usual working hours.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Two years of professional experience in a higher education admissions, recruitment, student advising, student financial aid or student services related position.
- Master’s degree.
- More than two years of professional experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, student advising, student financial aid or student services related position.
- A Class "C" vehicle driver license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
- Professional experience in higher education.
- Professional experience within TAMUS. Customer service experience, particularly within higher education.
- Working experience with youth populations in admissions, recruitment, or financial aid.
- Experience in giving presentations to large groups.
- Experience in producing reports of the analysis and evaluation of activities.
- Participation in Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) or Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO) programs or other professional organizations related to admissions, recruitment, student advising, student financial aid or student services.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills with individuals or in a group setting.
- Must possess strong organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of standard office equipment and computers.
- Ability to work well with students and parents.
- Ability to use spreadsheet programs.
- Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid.
- Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic organization.

- Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.

Recruitment
- Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled underrepresented students in designated high schools and regions.
- Works directly with prospective students and parents through the entire admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application process; follows -up on specific questions; troubleshoots any issues.
- Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application process.
- Implements recruitment activities such as campus trips, presentations, resource tables, application workshops and designated area projects.
- Organizes, implements, and reports on programs/projects including marketing, accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers and records.
- Travels to high school visits, presentations, college job fairs, etc.
- Distributes admissions information through participation in TACRAO programs, high school and community college visits, special programs, and other assigned appointments.
- Collaborates with outside organizations and constituent groups to involve them recruitment activities (eg; Phi Theta Kappa, Texas A&M Hispanic Network, Aggie Clubs, Aggie Mom’s Clubs, and Black Former Student Network).
- Uses professional judgment in advising and assisting students in solving their financial problems through scholarships, loans, grants, employment and financial counseling.
- Uses professional judgment in assisting to provide budgeting, money management, loans and indebtedness counseling to students on an individual and group basis and makes presentations to groups regarding financial aid and scholarship programs.
- Works with the Financial Aid Office with regard to awarding and adjusting financial aid awards as necessary to conform to federal, state and institutional policies and regulations.
- Interacts with high school faculty, administration and staff to provide and exchange information and to enhance the counseling and advisement of students considering/planning on attending Texas A&M.
- Develops, implements, and manages recruitment and financial aid early awareness programs for Service assigned areas.
- Conducts presentations and works at resource tables as requested. Establishes community contacts in select areas in market or region.
- Develops working relationships with University agencies, departments, counselors and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction.
- Assists with developing and revising admissions and financial aid consumer information materials, publications and brochures for currently enrolled students, prospective students and their parents, as well as for college, department and university use.
- Conducts presentations at local, state and regional conferences.
- Serves as a mentor and assists in the training of subordinate advisors regarding admissions and financial aid rules, regulations, policies and procedures, as well as how to develop and maintain relationships in high schools and community agencies.
- Assumes leadership roles in local, state and regional professional associations and committees.
- Coordinates major office programs.
- Develops a working knowledge of university information, opportunities and policies.
- Maintains knowledge of current federal, state and institutional policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid and admissions.
- Travels to and attends local and state workshops and conferences.
- May serve on university, divisional and departmental committees.
- Uses Banner, AIS, Howdy, MOSES, SLATE and TAMUDocs for student information.
