Position Purpose
The Field Education (FE) Youth Manager leads year-round school-based and custom youth programming, ensuring that all experiences are inclusive, science-informed, and rooted in place-based education. This position manages partnerships with teachers and districts, coordinates program delivery, and contributes to the development and evaluation of youth learning outcomes.
The Youth Manager also serves as Site Manager for the Jackson Campus, providing leadership for program operations, campus readiness, and staff coordination. The role works closely with the Head of Field Education and the Director of Curriculum & Educator Development to advance the Every Kid in Wyoming (EKIW) initiative—helping connect local and regional students to public lands through field-based science and place-based learning.
Responsibilities
Program Leadership
Lead design, coordination, and delivery of school-year youth programs, including district partnerships and TSS learning outcomes
Build and sustain relationships with teachers, districts, and schools to align programs with classroom learning goals and state standards
Represent Field Education in community and school outreach events to strengthen local partnerships
Collaborate on the advancement of the Every Kid in Wyoming (EKIW) initiative, ensuring integration of youth programs within its statewide strategy
Program Evaluation
Track and evaluate program participation, outcomes, and partner feedback
Collaborate with Program Coordinators to ensure program readiness and consistency
Support budget tracking and reporting for assigned programs
Contribute to Field Education team meetings, planning sessions, and cross-campus initiatives
Site Management – Jackson Campus
Serve as Site Manager for the Jackson Campus, overseeing daily operations and readiness, ensuring facilities, equipment, and spaces support high-quality programming
Collaborate with Director of Field Operations, Property Management, and Food Service teams to coordinate campus logistics and maintenance needs
Lead seasonal site readiness planning, including winterization, campus transitions, and group accommodations
Hosting & Collaboration
Serve as a primary representative of Teton Science Schools during active programs and campus visits
Ensure a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment for participants, educators, and guests
Occasionally host groups or events when visible leadership presence enhances participant experience, partner engagement, or community relationships
Support risk management, safety, and participant well-being through proactive communication and campus presence
Team Leadership & Culture
Contribute to Field Education leadership meetings, staff trainings, and organizational planning efforts
Foster a culture of curiosity, inclusion, professionalism, and stewardship across Field Education teams
Qualifications
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in education and the workplace
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required; Master’s preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in outdoor, experiential, or formal education settings
Minimum of 2 years in staff supervision, coordination, or program management
Experience working with K–12 schools and educators
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and learning management systems
WFR, CPR, and AED certifications (required)
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Primarily based at the Jackson Campus with travel to partner schools and other TSS campuses as needed
Combination of office and outdoor fieldwork in variable weather conditions
Occasional evenings or weekends required for trainings or school coordination
Ability to carry a backpack up to 20 lbs and hike up to 8 hours per day over uneven terrain
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive 15-passenger vans for extended periods
