What To Expect
Tesla is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to help industrialize our cell manufacturing lines to enable fast and efficient deployment at scale worldwide. The individual selected for this role will be the single point of contact for cell manufacturing utility design globally, helping define our tool utility consumption and connection interfaces while also acting as a review / approval gate for factory utility systems.
The individual will possess a strong first principles knowledge of process / chemical system design and have an understanding of how various utility distribution systems are designed and operate in a mass scale manufacturing facility.
What You'll Do
Define hydronic (process cooling water, RO/DI Water) and process gas (N2, Compressed Air) requirements for cell manufacturing equipment (loads, connection locations and types) Conceptual planning of future cell factory hydronic / utility gas distribution (estimate required capacity and equipment, compressors, driers, boilers) Reviewing / designing hydronic distribution systems (heating and cooling water loops, hot oil loops, pumps, heat exchangers) from conceptual stage to installation Basic understanding of HVAC and exhaust systems Interface with equipment suppliers, manufacturing engineers and tool installation team through concept development, system design, detailed design, procurement, factory acceptance testing, installation and site acceptance testing Cost / benefit analysis for localized utility systems vs. centralized systems (air compressors, blowers, etc.) Coordinate metering of manufacturing equipment to confirm average / peak loads Liaise with local factory engineering teams and regulatory bodies to understand local process codes and apply to manufacturing equipment design
What You'll Bring
Degree in Process or Chemical Engineering or equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience Pipe flow modelling (AFT pipeflow , Aspen, or equivalent) Experience with large facility infrastructure design (cell manufacturing, semiconductors, Chemical processing facility, etc.) 3D Modelling software (Revit, Navisworks, BIM360) Dynamo experience Excellent team and person-to-person communication skills
