The individual willpossessa strong firstprinciplesknowledge ofdry and wetHVACsystem design anduse this to help the teamoptimallyintegratemanufacturingequipment and factory systems into onecohesivepackage.Thecandidatewill become the subject matter expert for factory mechanical system design within the cell team, advising manufacturing engineers on how tooptimizemanufacturingtooldesign to meet product requirements while alsoactingas the4680 team'srepresentativein reviewing central factory systemdetaileddesign drawings.
What You'll Do
Develop mechanical system design concepts, utility locations,loads andsystemspecificationsduringConceptual design/Feasibility studyphase
Define / characterize all mechanical interfaces between cell manufacturing equipment and factory central systems and incorporate into cell MFG Factory REVIT Model
Review/approve factory mechanical system design(airflow diagrams, schematics, P&ID's, etc.)
Conduct cost / benefit analysis for localized utility systems vs. centralized (process cooling water,dust collection,etc.)
Use first principles to verify / size/ optimize design ofducting / piping / central utilities (Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Fans,air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers,etc.)
Liaisewith local factory engineering teamsand regulatory bodiesto understand localcodesand applyto manufacturing equipment design
Develop RFQsfor MFG utility systems
Interface with external/ internalEngineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)teamsduring bid and project execution phases as needed to ensure that designs and specifications meet Tesla Engineering Standards
Participate in on-field construction and commissioning activities by serving as the point of contact for technical questions and real-time issue resolution.Developin housefactory standards / specification documents
Lead efforts to improve and innovate on mechanical utility system designs based on lessons learned and first principles thinking
What You'll Bring
Degree inMechanicalEngineering or equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience
Familiarity with project management for capital projects and a typical project lifecycle
3D Modelling software (Revit) - Essential
ProficiencyinAutoCAD 2D
Pipe flow modelling (AFTpipeflow, Aspen, or equivalent)
Experience with large facility infrastructure design (cell manufacturing, semiconductors, Chemical processing facility, etc.)
Excellent team and person-to-person communication skills
Wellorganized with meticulous attention to detail
