What To Expect
The Failure Analysis Team's mission is to determine root cause & contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla's products by reducing field issues; in collaboration with a large cross-section of other engineering teams. Engineers & Technicians on the team are responsible for a wide variety of vehicle & energy product systems for existing models and models in development. This is a high visibility individual contributor role that includes extensive hands-on work focused on failure analysis & root cause activities.
We are seeking an experienced engineering technician who will support all aspects of identifying & characterizing failures on our low voltage electronics. The successful candidate will work directly with other Failure Analysis Engineers to perform debug, rework, & root cause analysis on infotainment systems, low voltage controllers, & autopilot electronics.
The successful candidate will be experienced working in a supporting role in an electrical development lab. They will need to be intimately familiar with the use of all common electrical test & measurement equipment. The candidate will need to perform rework & measurement on PCBAs using extremely small components. As such they will need to have excellent fine motor skills & soldering skills on SMD components. What You'll Do
Debug complex analog & digital electrical systems Support root cause analysis from issue identification to countermeasure implementation Use analytical tools & techniques including Functional Testing, Electrical Debug, X-Ray, Thermography, & others Execute experiments to test theories about failure cause Rework fine pitch electronics & PCBAs
What You'll Bring
1 Years of industry experience or demonstrable experience debugging & reworking complex electrical circuits Extensive experience working with tools such as Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Curve Tracer, Function Generator, etc. Extremely proficient at soldering & rework on complex boards & SMT components Proficient at reading schematics & debugging analog & digital circuitry Experience with common digital communication protocols (I2C, CAN, etc.) Experience with common failure analysis techniques & methods preferred Experience with power electronics is a plus

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $56.40/hour cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
