PCB Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled PCB Design Engineer to design and develop high-performance printed circuit boards for complex RF and microwave systems. This role is critical to ensuring electrical performance, manufacturability, and reliability for designs operating from MHz through multi-GHz frequencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop single- and multilayer PCB layouts for RF, mixed-signal, analog, and digital circuits
• Implement controlled impedance structures (microstrip, stripline, CPWG) and transmission line matching
• Optimize component placement and routing to maximize signal integrity, isolation, and minimize parasitics
• Address RF-specific design challenges including grounding strategies, shielding, and coupling mitigation
• Translate schematics into layouts that preserve signal fidelity, low phase noise, and minimal spurious signals
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support filter response, oscillator stability, and low-noise performance
• Apply best practices to reduce EMI/EMC and crosstalk in dense RF environments
• Develop full PCB release packages, including:
• • Gerber and/or ODB files
  • Drill files and stack-up definitions
  • Fabrication drawings and notes
  • Assembly documentation
• Define PCB stack-ups using RF laminates (e.g., Rogers) and hybrid materials
• Evaluate dielectric properties and loss characteristics impacting RF performance
• Partner with fabrication vendors to ensure design compliance, manufacturability, and cost targets
• Support design and layout reviews, including tolerance analysis
• Troubleshoot and resolve PCB-related issues in collaboration with manufacturing

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5 years of PCB layout experience, with a strong focus on RF/high-frequency designs
• Proven experience with RF PCB design techniques, including impedance control, shielding, and grounding
• Proficiency with PCB design tools such as:
• • Altium Designer
  • Cadence Allegro
  • Mentor Graphics PADS
• Strong understanding of:
• • Signal integrity and high-frequency effects
  • EMI/EMC mitigation
  • RF materials and stack-ups
  • Fabrication processes, materials, and tolerances
• Familiarity with IPC standards and high-reliability design practices
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
• Must be eligible to work with ITAR-regulated data (U.S. persons only)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing PCBs for RF/microwave or defense/aerospace applications
• Familiarity with multi-GHz circuit design challenges
