Electrical Maintenance Technician
Overview
Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation within an industrial environment. Performs both electrical and related mechanical work as needed to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Diagnostics
• Inspects electrical equipment, including motors, bearings, lubrication systems, commutators, and vibration levels.
• Identifies excessive wear, misalignment, or need for adjustment.
• Uses electrical testing instruments to diagnose malfunctions and determine corrective actions.
• Evaluates whether equipment requires immediate shutdown or can continue operating safely.
• Determines repair methods that minimize production interruption.
Repair, Maintenance & Installation
• Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, assembles, and lubricates electrical equipment.
• Adjusts equipment to achieve proper operating performance.
• Performs temporary or permanent repairs depending on operational needs.
• Conducts mechanical and electrical repairs on cranes.
• Performs mechanical repairs associated with electrical maintenance tasks.
• Uses arc welding and cutting torches occasionally for repair work.
• Operates basic machine tools such as drill presses, power saws, grinders, and portable drills.
Rigging, Scaffolding & Equipment Operation
• Erects scaffolding and performs basic rigging as required for maintenance tasks.
• Operates high‐lift equipment in support of electrical repair and maintenance activities.
• Checks and replenishes fluid and LP gas levels as needed.
• Reports any conditions requiring additional maintenance or corrective action.
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• Must meet all safety requirements related to fall protection.
