Fenner Dunlop is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Electrician to join our Conveyor Services team in Homer City, PA. Reporting to the Field Supervisor, this role will perform electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of conveyor belts and material handling systems in mining and heavy industrial environments. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety culture while working both independently and as part of a team.

What You'll Do

Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance

  • Perform electrical repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of conveyor belt systems and associated equipment in accordance with work orders and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electronic control circuits, including motor controls, starters, VFDs, PLC interfaces, and safety interlocks.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient equipment operation.
    Perform basic mechanical repairs and processes as required to support electrical work and overall system functionality.

Documentation & Regulatory Reporting

  • Accurately document all service, inspection, and maintenance activities to meet MSHA and other governmental regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inspection reports, maintenance logs, corrective action records, and work orders in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Utilize basic computer systems and software, including the Microsoft Office suite, to complete documentation, reports, and communication requirements.

Safety & MSHA Compliance

  • Perform all work in strict compliance with MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific mine rules, actively promoting a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Take personal responsibility for safety by identifying hazards, correcting unsafe conditions when possible, and immediately reporting hazards, incidents, and near-misses through appropriate channels .
  • Conduct required pre-operational inspections, Job/Task Hazard Analyses (JHAs/THAs), and follow established lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures prior to and during work activities.
  • Ensure work areas are left in a safe condition, including proper guarding, housekeeping, and verification that all safety devices are fully operational before equipment is returned to service.
  • Comply with all safety requirements related to electrical work, confined space entry, hot work, fall protection, and mobile equipment interaction.

Tools, Equipment & Materials

  • Furnish required personal hand tools; all specialized tools, testing equipment, and materials will be provided by the company.
  • Properly use, inspect, secure, and maintain all company-provided tools and equipment to ensure safe working condition.
  • Maintain care, custody, and accountability for all tools and materials assigned to work activities.

Communication & Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with Supervisors and Crew Leads to receive direction, clarify job requirements, and report job status, equipment conditions, and safety concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and safety personnel to support mine and site objectives.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in MSHA-required training, safety meetings, toolbox talks, audits, and inspections.
  • Assist with accident investigations, corrective actions, and root-cause analyses as requested.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety performance, regulatory compliance, and equipment reliability.
  • Assist with training and mentoring apprentices or less experienced employees on safe work practices and MSHA expectations.

Fleet & Logistics Coordination

  • Coordinate fleet vehicle maintenance and service with approved service locations and the Fleet Logistics Specialist to ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to work off shifts, as needed, including afternoons, night, and weekends, including travel and overnights.
  • Adapt to changes in work schedules, which may be modified based on business needs.
  • Travel, including overnight travel, is required upwards of ~30% or more.
  • Perform other tasks based on business needs.
  • Professional behavior is required during working hours, while on customer site, and while traveling for business.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

What You'll Need

  • High School Diploma or GED required; formal training or education in electrical, industrial maintenance, or a related skilled trade preferred.
  • Valid Industrial Electrician Journeyman Card required.
  • Current MSHA Electrical Card required; MSHA Underground (U.G.) Electrical Certification preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and DOT medical certification preferred, or ability to obtain as required for job duties.
  • Demonstrated electrical experience in the mining industry, with a strong understanding of MSHA electrical standards and mine safety requirements.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial electrical work or a related field, preferably in mining, heavy industrial, or material handling environments.
  • Experience performing mechanic-related duties, including maintenance and repair of industrial equipment and conveyor systems.
  • Working knowledge of commonly used mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to industrial equipment.
  • Ability to perform electrical and mechanical services on equipment utilized by Fenner Services, including conveyor belts and material handling systems.
  • Ability to safely perform work in underground, surface, and elevated environments, in compliance with MSHA and company safety standards.
