A Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted prior to employment.
This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to three years of professional human resources work.
Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in human resources administration or other related acceptable fields may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of one year.
Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time professional or paraprofessional human resources experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
Overview
The Human Resources Generalist will provide the full range of human resources services to staff, including human resources transactions, classification/compensation, time and attendance, and employee relations. Individuals selected are expected to create and maintain positive working relationships with employees, managers/supervisors, and executive leadership within their respective areas.
The Human Resources Generalist will serve as regional HR representative serving our Community Supervision and Rehabilitative Services staff in the East region; this includes counties in western East Tennessee including Hamilton, Bradley, Putnam, Monroe, McMinn, Rhea, and Cumberland counties. The working location of this position will depend on the location of the individual hired.

Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on human resources rules, regulations, policies, procedures to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Prepare, process, audit, and correct human resources transactions such as employee appointments, promotions, demotions, separations, transfers, reclassifications, and salary changes; maintain employee personnel files.
- Ensure completion of the time and attendance process by all staff and managers; resolve exceptions as needed to ensure all staff are paid accurately and timely.
- Assist managers and supervisors with preparation and processing of employee disciplinary actions.
- Assist employees with FMLA, workers compensation, extended leaves of absence, and employee benefits.
- Oversee the performance management process, assisting managers in utilizing the program to drive employee performance and ensuring all steps are completed as required.
- Conduct orientation and onboarding for newly hired staff members, including training on policies and procedures, enrollment in insurance and benefits programs, and issuance of employee ID badges and parking passes.
- Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on hiring new employees, including navigating the states hiring process, preparing interview questions, interpreting assessment results, and sitting on.
- Ensure employee recognition through the states Service Award program.
