Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day accounting: processing transactions, reconciling accounts, journal entries
- Accrual-based accounting: accurate tracking of expenses and revenues across multi-department, grant-based structure
- Payroll journal entries: allocating hours to correct departments and grants
- Monthly grant billings and funder reports, compliance with grant requirements
- Month-end and year-end close support
- Audit preparation and coordination with external auditors
- Collaboration with Finance Director and accounting team on processes and efficiency
- Budget-to-actual variance review with program/site managers
- Process improvement contributions within the accounting department
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered
- Experience: 2–4 years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience strongly preferred
- Accrual accounting proficiency required, grant accounting and payroll experience preferred
- Accounting software proficiency, Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Mission-aligned: genuine appreciation for nonprofit work and substance use disorder recovery
