Mainframe Operator

Description

As a Mainframe Operator with Frost, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling one or more mini or mainframe computers by operating the central console or on-line terminals. Responsibilities will include observing the operation of the console panel, storage devices, printers, and the action of the console dashboards, detailed logs and vendor tickets to monitor the system and determining the point of equipment or program failure; setting up monitors and controlling computer operations and peripheral equipment; manipulating controls in accordance with standard procedures to rearrange sequence of job steps to continue operations when individual units of the system malfunction; and maintaining operating records such as machine performance and production reports. The candidate will confer with software systems engineering, or applications programming personnel in the event errors require a change of instructions or sequence of operations.

Required

• Experience in midrange and as a mainframe computer operator
• Experience in Z/os mainframe skills with batch processing
• Knowledge of Jes2 operator commands, scheduling packages, and ATM support
• Proficient in Microsoft computer applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• If needed, the ability to work coverage on holidays
• If needed, the ability to rotate work shifts
• Realistically we will not find someone with mainframe experience in this rate, we usually place helpdesk people in these roles that have some JCL experience and mainframe concept knowledge.
• Need someone reliable that is really interested in this role- they have had a lot of turnover and the manager wants to change that.
• This role isnt the funnest job, but it is great experience. So make sure we communicate that and find someone that wants to be there!

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
