A well-established Real Estate Development and Property Management firm is seeking a reliable and skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Hooksett, NH.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on apartment maintenance experience and a positive, team-oriented attitude. This role requires strong knowledge of residential property maintenance, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical work, drywall repair, painting, appliance troubleshooting, and general carpentry. The ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues independently is essential. Candidates must possess their own tools, a reliable vehicle, and a valid state-issued driver's license. Appliance repair experience is highly preferred.

Position Summary
We are seeking a versatile Staff Accountant — an accounting and finance "utility knife" — to support our team across a broad range of functions. This is a high-exposure role for a well-rounded accountant who thrives on variety, moving comfortably between audit and tax support, month-end close, treasury, deal-flow and project accounting, financial analysis, and core transactional work across a multi-entity real estate portfolio.
Reporting to a Senior Accountant, this role is an excellent fit for someone looking to broaden their experience across real estate investing, development, and property management accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & General Ledger
- Support the month-end close process across multiple entities.
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting schedules.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies.
- Fixed asset and depreciation bookings.
Audit & Tax Support
- Prepare audit workpapers and PBC schedules; respond to auditor requests.
- Support tax return preparation and workpapers for multi-faceted entity structures.
- Assist with compliance reporting and related documentation.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Support cash management, bank reconciliations, and treasury reporting.
- Assist with funding, draw tracking, and cash positioning across entities.
Deal Flow & Project Accounting
- Support deal-flow and project-level accounting across development and investment activity.
- Assist with entity setup, capital tracking, and project cost recording.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare financial reports and variance analysis at the property and entity level.
- Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis in support of the team and leadership.
AP/AR & Transaction Processing
- Provide AP/AR support across the team and ensure timely, accurate transaction processing and workflow review.
Systems & Data Integrity
- Work within Yardi to maintain data accuracy, including support of the ongoing system migration.
- Support process documentation and standardisation across the function.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong fundamentals in general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Yardi (Voyager) experience strongly preferred; comparable property management or ERP systems (e.g., AppFolio, Sage Intacct) a plus.
- Real estate investing, development, or property management accounting experience.
- Exposure to affordable housing / LIHTC.
- Public accounting, audit, and/or tax experience.
