We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to oversee quality, compliance, and safety on large-scale airport terminal and building construction projects. In this role, you will perform daily field inspections, verify work meets contract requirements and applicable codes, document construction progress, and coordinate with contractors, engineers, testing agencies, and project stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with experience inspecting complex commercial, public infrastructure, or aviation construction projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily field inspections of airport buildings, terminals, and related construction projects.
  • Ensure work complies with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, applicable building codes, safety regulations, and project standards.
  • Review construction drawings, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting project progress, contractor activities, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Identify non-conforming work and verify corrective measures are completed.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, testing laboratories, and third-party inspection agencies.
  • Track field changes, time-and-material work, installed quantities, and project progress.
  • Measure and verify completed work for payment applications and project documentation.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with local codes, ADA requirements, and airport-specific standards.
  • Maintain accurate electronic inspection records using project management and document control software.
  • Communicate construction issues, schedule impacts, and inspection findings to project leadership.
  • Perform inspections while following all airport operational, security, and safety requirements.


Types of Construction Inspected

Experience inspecting one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Demolition and site preparation
  • Excavation, trenching, shoring, and earthwork
  • Concrete construction, foundations, and reinforcing steel
  • Structural steel
  • Underground utilities, sewer, and storm drainage
  • Metal stud framing and drywall
  • Architectural finishes
  • Doors, frames, and hardware
  • Fire-rated assemblies
  • Suspended and hard-lid ceilings
  • Airport terminal and public facility construction


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience.
  • Experience inspecting commercial buildings, public infrastructure, transportation, or similar large-scale construction projects.
  • Current Cal/OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
  • Fall Protection training.
  • Confined Space Awareness certification.
  • NFPA 70E certification (required for electrical inspection assignments).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and contract documents.
  • Experience preparing detailed inspection reports.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and quality control.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with PMWeb, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat Pro, or similar construction management software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • ICC (International Code Council) certifications.
  • City of Los Angeles Deputy Inspector licenses.
  • Experience inspecting airport terminals or aviation facilities.
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles Building Codes and ADA requirements.
  • Experience with structural steel, concrete, architectural finishes, and building systems.
  • Experience working in active airport environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction regulations, quality standards, and contract compliance.

Salary : $160,000 - $165,000
