Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal to support attorneys in managing plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice litigation matters from intake through settlement or trial. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with New York litigation procedures, medical records, court filings, and client communication while working independently in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice cases from intake through settlement or trial.
- Screen new matters and assist with case intake.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including Summonses and Complaints, Bills of Particulars, discovery demands and responses, motions, authorizations, and subpoenas.
- Gather, review, and organize medical records, billing records, lien information, and expert materials.
- Coordinate with clients, medical providers, experts, and opposing counsel.
- Track litigation deadlines, court appearances, depositions, and compliance conferences.
- Schedule depositions and assist with mediation submissions, expert exchanges, and trial preparation.
- Prepare trial exhibits and trial binders.
- File legal documents electronically through NYSCEF.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and document collection.
Qualifications
- New York plaintiff Personal Injury and/or Medical Malpractice litigation.
- Strong knowledge of New York State court filing requirements.
- Hands-on experience with NYSCEF electronic filing.
- Experience reviewing and organizing medical records.
- Strong drafting, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with injured clients.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience supporting trial attorneys in complex personal injury and medical malpractice litigation.
