We are looking for an experienced Fire Alarm & Low Voltage Designer to join our growing team. If you have a strong background in fire alarm system design, low-voltage systems, and code-compliant construction documentation, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Design and prepare fire alarm and low-voltage system layouts using AutoCAD.
- Develop shop drawings, permit drawings, as-built drawings, riser diagrams, device layouts, panel schedules, and system calculations.
- Prepare complete fire alarm submittal packages, including battery and voltage drop calculations, equipment data sheets, and sequence of operations.
- Ensure designs comply with NFPA, IBC, California Building Code, California Fire Code, and local AHJ requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, field technicians, programmers, engineers, contractors, consultants, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review construction documents, identify design conflicts, respond to plan check comments, and support design-build and retrofit projects.
What We're Looking For
- Experience designing fire alarm and low-voltage systems for commercial, multifamily, healthcare, education, hospitality, industrial, or high-rise projects.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, including voice evacuation, smoke control, emergency communication, elevator recall, sprinkler monitoring, and building system interfaces.
- Experience with low-voltage systems such as access control, CCTV, monitoring, DAS/ERRCS, and AV systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to interpret architectural, electrical, mechanical, and construction drawings.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification (Level II or higher preferred).
- Experience with Edwards/EST, Kidde, Notifier, Siemens, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Potter, or similar fire alarm platforms.
- Knowledge of California permitting processes, AHJ requirements, and fire department plan review procedures.
- Field experience in fire alarm or low-voltage installation is a plus.
