Description
The Commercial Plumbing Service Estimator is a management position responsible for leading and managing the estimating department for commercial plumbing service projects. This role oversees all estimating activities, develops accurate and competitive proposals, manages estimator performance, and supports business growth through strong customer relationships and operational coordination. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, service operations, pricing, labor forecasting, and project estimation procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the commercial plumbing service estimating department.
- Supervise, train, and mentor estimators to ensure accurate and timely proposals.
- Review incoming service opportunities, drawings, specifications, and scope requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial plumbing service, repair, replacement, and small project work.
- Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and permit cost projections.
- Ensure all estimates meet company profitability goals and pricing standards.
- Coordinate with service managers, field supervisors, technicians, vendors, and customers.
- Maintain estimating systems, databases, labor units, and pricing structures.
- Review and approve final proposals before submission.
- Monitor estimating performance metrics, bid success rates, and departmental productivity.
- Assist with contract negotiations and project turnover meetings.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, general contractors, facility managers, and vendors.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiency.
- Support strategic growth initiatives for the commercial service division.

Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in commercial plumbing estimating and service operations.
- Strong leadership and management experience overseeing estimating teams.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, codes, materials, and service procedures.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Experience estimating service repairs, tenant improvements, retrofits, and small construction projects.
- Strong understanding of labor productivity, scheduling, and job costing.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and service management platforms.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
