What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Process Engineer - Precision Machining position at TekPro?
TekPro is partnered with a leading precision component manufacturer to identify a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer who can take ownership of complex machining processes and drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across the shop floor. This is a high-impact role working closely with engineering, production, and customers to bring new parts from concept to production while optimizing existing processes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes for new and existing components
- Review customer prints, specifications, and requirements to determine optimal production methods
- Build and maintain BOMs, routings, and item data within the ERP system
- Lead contract reviews for new work and coordinate material and technical requirements with purchasing
- Design and improve tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions to support production and quality goals
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot machining challenges and improve process flow
- Interface directly with customers to clarify technical details and suggest design or manufacturability improvements
- Support estimating efforts by evaluating prints, tolerances, and process considerations
- Ensure proper flow-down of customer, internal, and regulatory requirements to vendors
- Participate in corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain process documentation, including work instructions and process drawings
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience in manufacturing process engineering
- 5 years in CNC machining, fabrication, or similar precision manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, NX (Unigraphics), SolidWorks, or similar
- Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
- Proven experience designing fixturing and selecting tooling for complex parts
- Strong problem-solving skills related to machining strategy, tooling, and workholding
- Ability to sequence operations to balance quality, efficiency, and cost
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with production, quality, customers, and suppliers
