Director of Quality Role
The Director of Quality is a senior leadership position responsible for owning and driving the Quality Management System (QMS) while serving as a key partner to engineering, operations, and executive leadership. This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering and Quality and plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, managing customer relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is ideal for a hands-on quality leader who can balance strategic oversight with day-to-day execution in a precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Serve as the primary owner of customer complaints, corrective actions, and quality escalations
- Lead and support internal audits, external audits, and customer audits
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, risk reduction, and process capability
- Partner closely with Engineering and Operations to ensure quality is embedded in all processes
- Manage and develop the quality organization, including Quality Engineers and the Quality Manager
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality objectives
- Analyze quality metrics and trends to support data-driven decision-making
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering or related technical discipline preferred)
- Extensive experience in precision manufacturing or machined components, ideally within aerospace
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Proven experience leading audits and managing corrective action processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop quality teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and executive leadership
- Hands-on, detail-oriented leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset
