What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Trading Systems Engineer position at TEEMA?
The Role
You’ll work directly with the Head of Product as the critical bridge between business needs and technical execution. In this role, you’ll transform business requirements into scalable software solutions — replacing external tools with internally owned systems, automating manual workflows, managing API integrations, and maintaining the core database infrastructure that supports the business.
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy opportunity where your work will directly influence the company’s growth and operational efficiency. Within your first 6 months, you’ll take ownership of the full lifecycle from business request to deployed solution. Within 12 months, the systems you build will serve as foundational infrastructure for the company’s next stage of growth.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain internal software systems that reduce reliance on third-party SaaS tools and strengthen ownership of core infrastructure
- Automate manual workflows across sales operations, reporting, and client delivery
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate development and problem-solving
- Manage and enhance the company’s central database and the integrations connecting critical business systems
- Translate business and operational requirements into technical specifications and production-ready code
- Maintain strong engineering discipline through version control, testing, documentation, and clean deployment practices
You’re a Great Fit If You...
- Hold a degree in Computer Science, Financial Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
- Have strong software engineering fundamentals, including SQL and API integration experience
- Possess foundational knowledge of financial products such as structured notes, derivatives, fixed income products, or trading concepts
- Take pride in writing clean, maintainable, high-quality code
- Are enthusiastic about AI-assisted development and have experience using tools like Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies
- Thrive in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments with a high level of ownership and autonomy
- Can communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs effectively with non-technical stakeholders
- Are naturally curious, innovative, and collaborative when solving business problems
You May Not Be a Fit If You...
- Prefer to specialize deeply in a single technology without engaging in broader business challenges
- Require extensive structure, rigid specifications, or large team environments to succeed
- Are uncomfortable working through ambiguity or shifting priorities
- Prefer maintaining existing systems over building and improving new ones
- Have little interest in financial products, markets, or investment-related technology
- View AI development tools as a threat rather than a productivity advantage
