Nurse Practitioner – Correctional Facility | Wisconsin
We are seeking a compassionate, confident, and clinically strong Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join a dedicated healthcare team within a Correctional Facility in Wisconsin. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive healthcare services to an adult correctional population, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, health education, and chronic disease management. The NP works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and correctional personnel to deliver high-quality patient-centered care while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
Essential Job FunctionsPerform comprehensive physical assessments and medical evaluations
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
Manage chronic care clinics including hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and other ongoing conditions
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results
Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with Wisconsin state regulations and facility protocols
Complete timely and accurate electronic medical documentation
Respond appropriately to urgent and emergent medical situations
Provide patient education and promote preventative healthcare initiatives
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and interdisciplinary teams
Participate in intake screenings, follow-up appointments, and continuity of care planning
Maintain compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and correctional healthcare standards
Exercise sound clinical judgment in a secure correctional environment
Active Wisconsin Nurse Practitioner license required
Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP), or related specialty required
DEA license required
Current BLS certification required
Minimum of 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
Correctional, urgent care, emergency medicine, family practice, or internal medicine experience preferred
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
