Role Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated Storefront Fabrication Shop Manager to oversee our in-house aluminum fabrication operations. This role requires both hands-on technical skill and strong leadership to manage workflow, people, and equipment while ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, mentor, and schedule shop team members to meet project deadlines.
- Review shop drawings and installation instructions; back-check cut lists for accuracy.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate shop workflow from layout through assembly.
- Set up fabrication machinery, tools, and workstations.
- Oversee maintenance of shop equipment (saws, compressors, hydraulic punches).
- Ensure safe loading/unloading of trucks and trailers for project deliveries.
- Track production, maintain accurate shop records, and support continuous improvement.
- Manage facility upkeep across two shop buildings.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, field superintendents, and estimators to align fabrication with project goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and specifications.
- Hands-on experience with layout, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Skilled in planning/scheduling workflow in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
