Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Utilities Design (Pharma Capital Projects)
Summary:
Technical Source is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with proven experience designing industrial utility systems for a major pharmaceutical client in Clayton, NC. This role requires end-to-end design expertise for at least two of the following systems: steam, chilled water, heating hot water, compressed air, natural gas, and plumbing. Candidates must have 6 years of experience in industrial or pharmaceutical environments, with a strong background in utility system design, equipment specification, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and specification of utility systems (minimum two: steam, chilled water, heating hot water, compressed air, natural gas, plumbing).
- Develop P&IDs, equipment sizing calculations, and technical specifications for boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, and related equipment.
- Oversee vendor evaluations, FAT, and field supervision during construction.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, building codes, and company standards; prepare turnover packages and as-built documentation.
Qualifications:
- 6 years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial or pharmaceutical capital projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in utility system design and integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, PipeFlo, Revit, or Plant 3D is a plus.
