Overview
Seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep DO-178 experience to lead the development and certification of safety-critical avionics systems. This role is responsible for driving system architecture, requirements quality, and certification strategy across complex programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of system architecture and high-level requirements (HLRs) for avionics systems
- Own requirements quality, traceability, and compliance across the full DO-178 lifecycle
- Guide and review work products to ensure alignment with certification objectives (DAL A–C)
- Drive verification strategy, including requirements-based testing and coverage considerations
- Lead or support FAA/EASA certification efforts, including SOI audits
- Develop and review key certification artifacts:
- PSAC, SDP, SVP, SAS
- Interface directly with:
- Customers (OEMs/suppliers)
- DERs and certification authorities
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical leadership across teams
Required Qualifications
- 8–15 years of experience in systems engineering, avionics, or embedded software
- Strong, hands-on experience with DO-178B/C on certified programs
- Proven experience working on high DAL programs (A–C)
- Deep expertise in:
- Requirements development and decomposition
- Traceability and compliance
- Verification and validation processes
- Experience supporting certification audits (SOIs)
- Proficiency with requirements tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience defining or leading certification strategy
- Background in model-based systems engineering (SysML) or DO-331
- Prior consulting or customer-facing engineering experience
- Experience across multiple avionics platforms or programs
